A rare Rozenburg eggshell porcelain bonbonniere painted with purple orchids. Octagonal model 164 with a domed lid with an open-worked handle. High 12 cm including lid and the diameter is 16 cm. Painted by Samuel Schellink and executed* at the Amphora Holland factory, immediately after the Rozenburg factory closed in 1914. Marked Amphora Holland, painter’s signature Sam Schellink, work order number 811, model 164. *Not long after the closing of the Rozenburg factory on August 14, 1914, a handful of Rozenburg pottery painters left for the ‘Tile and Fayence factory Amphora Holland’ . Among them also Samuel Schellink and Roelof Sterken, who also brought their own drawing boxes from Rozenburg, containing the paint colors that are characteristic of Rozenburg. The Amphora factory also acquired a reasonable number of (unpainted) biscuit models from Rozenburg, which were then painted and glazed at Amphora. Strikingly often these Amphora Holland (marked as such) are pieces of high quality, both in terms of glaze and painting, which in many cases were only carried out by one painter, which is especially visible in the quality of the painting of those signed by Schellink or Sterken.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
