A very rare pair of eggshell porcelain vases Rozenburg Den Haag, painted by Samuel Schellink in July 1914. In total, only 56 pieces of the Rozenburg vase model 244p were made between 1899 and 1914. These vases are also the very last pieces of eggshell porcelain that would leave the factory, just before its final closure in August 1914. The model 244p has a round bottom and a square neck. Each of the four sides has two incoming ribs and a protruding rib in the middle, which gives the painting more depth and shine. The (mirrored) painting of two parakeets on each vase surrounded by flowers and leaves is particularly beautiful in detail and, as the work order book shows, the vases were painted only by Sam Schellink. The vases are 29.7 cm high, both marked with the year mark for 1914, work order number 379 and the painters’ monogram of Sam Schellink.<\/p>\n

This is the penultimate page from the Rozenburg work order book from 1914, just before the closure of the factory. Marked in red is the work order number 379 in which the vases are listed. In the last column you can also read that the vases had a cost of 7.24 guilders each. A factory price list from 1904 also shows that the sales price of the 244p model at the time was no less than NLG 30.- per piece.
