Bronze with a brown patina, signed ‘Aug Falise’ (on the base), 24 cm high. Circa 1904-1910.

Augustinus Franciscus Henri Falise (Wageningen, 26 January 1875 – 7 January 1936) was a Dutch sculptor. Next to smaller sculptures he designed large monuments of public figures in stone or messing which are still present in many towns in the Netherlands. Between 1904 and 1907, Falise designed a number of romantic sculptures for the N.V. Plateelbakkerij Haga, Purmerend. These sculptures were executed in earthenware or patinated plaster. Falise had only a small number actually cast in bronze.
