Description
Rozenburg Den Haag eggshell porcelain tea caddy, Samuel Schellink, 1901. The tea caddy with plume lid is painted with purple spider chrysanthemums and both the decor design and the painting are by Samuel Schellink, executed in January 1901. This is the Rozenburg eggshell porcelain model 96p, height 21 cm (with plume lid) and the bottom of the tea caddy is 10 x 7 cm.
A total of 107 pieces were made of the model 96p, ‘flacon’ as Rozenburg called this model. However, because it is a typical utensil, only a few (intact) copies are known. This one is in an exceptionally beautiful condition and in addition, the porcelain biscuit is cast very thinly, which makes the tea caddy look even more fragile.
The Princessehof Ceramics Museum also has a particularly beautiful model 96p, see: https://princessehof.nl/en/collection/top-pieces/rozenburg-flask
