This Rozenburg Den Haag eggshell porcelain wall plate was painted on March 3, 1899 by Sam Schellink and Willem Vonk. It is the first eggshell wall plate that was painted, model 74p, 23 cm in diameter, painted with stylized poppies. An incredibly beautiful Japonistic Art Nouveau decor has been put down in a few lines. Also special is the typical Rozenburg dark blue in the center of the poppy on the right of the plate. The third photo in the slideshow on the right shows a copy from the Rozenburg work order book for the painters, with the mark of the plate at the bottom right. The painting of the very first pieces of eggshell porcelain started on March 3, 1899 with order number 292. This wall plate is from order number 298 and only one copy has been painted.
